TheYugoslav dinarwas the currency of the three Yugoslav expresses: the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and the Government Republic of Yugoslavia (Serbia and Montenegro), between 1918 and 2006. It has been subdivided into 100 para. The currency exchange has been inaugurated in 1918, with the institution of the Empire of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes, replacing the Serbian dinar. In the earlier decades, it circulated alongside the Yugoslav krone, the heir of the Austro-Hungarian krone. In the early 1990s, the money was subject matter to what has been referred to as the most severe hyperinflation in background, as financial mismanagement produced the federal government bankrupt and compelled it to get cash from the savings of the nation's citizens.
